10 Things to Have Ready for Your Photographer on Wedding Morning | Kansas City Wedding Photographer

Wedding mornings tend to go by much faster than people expect.

Between hair and makeup, getting dressed, family arriving, and all the excitement that comes with the day, having a few things prepared ahead of time can make the morning feel much more relaxed and help your photographer start documenting your story right away.

Here are 10 things I always recommend having ready before your photographer arrives.

1. All Three Rings

This includes:

  • Engagement ring

  • Wedding band

  • Partner's wedding band

Having all of the rings together allows for detail photos before the ceremony begins.

2. Invitation Suite

If you'd like photos of your invitations, gather:

  • Invitation

  • RSVP card

  • Envelopes

  • Wax seals

  • Vellum wraps

  • Any other paper goods

Even if they're no longer needed for guests, they're a beautiful part of your wedding story.

3. Shoes

Whether they're designer heels, cowboy boots, or something chosen purely for comfort, wedding shoes are always worth documenting.

4. Jewelry & Accessories

Think:

  • Earrings

  • Necklaces

  • Bracelets

  • Watches

  • Hair pieces

  • Cufflinks

  • Veils

Having everything in one place saves time and keeps the morning running smoothly.

5. Vow Books

If you're writing your own vows, don't forget to set aside your vow books.

They're often some of the most meaningful details from the entire day.

6. Perfume or Cologne

This is one of those small details that often gets overlooked but photographs beautifully and helps tell the story of the day.

7. Florals (and Extra Blooms!)

One of my favorite wedding tips: ask your florist for a few extra loose blooms or floral stems.

They make a huge difference when styling detail photos and help tie everything together visually.

Trust me, your photographer will thank you.

8. Family Heirlooms

These are often the most meaningful details to photograph.

Examples might include:

  • Grandmother's jewelry

  • A family Bible

  • Handkerchiefs

  • Vintage photographs

  • Sentimental gifts

If it matters to you, I want to know about it.

9. Gifts or Letters

Planning to exchange gifts or letters before the ceremony?

Have them ready and accessible so they don't get lost in the excitement of the morning.

10. A Clean Space for Getting Ready

This one may not be as fun as the others, but it makes a huge difference.

A small corner with:

  • good natural light

  • minimal clutter

  • your details gathered together

creates a much calmer environment for photographs and helps everything flow more smoothly.

Final Thoughts

The goal isn't perfection.

It's simply creating a little breathing room so you can enjoy your morning and allow your photographer to focus on documenting the details that make your wedding uniquely yours.

A little preparation goes a long way, and future you will be grateful to have those memories preserved.
